My Winter Skin Care Routine

My Winter Skin Care Routine

In many ways, my skincare routine stays the same throughout the year. But I do find that my skin is extra dry during the winter months. Below is my winter skin care routine as well as a list of products I use.

All of the products listed below are my current favorites and are literally on my counter right now! I hope you find inspiration and new products to try in this post. Let me know in the comments or on my Instagram if you have any questions.

My Skin Issues

My skin is not even close to being perfect! I have always battled with acne, and growing up I tried everything from over the counter drugstore face washes… to Accutane (which is a most aggressive acne medicine you can get with a prescription). I was on Accutane for about a year, but I still battle acne and hyperpigmentation even today… BUT now I am also battling wrinkles. THE JOY! LOL Oh and I might be related to sasquatch because I am as hairy as a man, as a result, I often get scarring from the ingrown hairs on my lips, chin and neck! I know so sexy right!??

Cleanser

I love to use face washes with the active ingredient salicylic acid. It’s milder than benzoyl peroxide but I find that it has the same acne fighting ingredients. I like Cerave skin renewing because it goes on like soap but isn’t as drying as regular soap. I love this one and have been using it for almost 6 months, and I plan on keeping on my short list for sure!

Exfoliator

I was introduced to the ACURE Brilliantly Brightening Facial Scrub  at a Whole Foods Event I went to in the spring and have been using it since. You can read about that event here. I love this exfoliator because it still suds like soap but it has a nice spa-like fragrance. Whole Foods takes great pride in the products they put on their shelves so without even looking at the ingredients I know it’s made out of good stuff. I use this exfoliator about every other night when my skin is the driest but at least once a week during the winter.

Serums & Moisturizers

Timeless Vitamin C Serum is THE BEST! I mean I REALLY LOVE this stuff. One time I ran out and I totally noticed a difference in the smoothness of my pores and other glowy-ness of my skin. This is a staple that I am not sure I will ever get rid of. It has amazing Amazon reviews and I totally see why. I would highly recommend this product no matter your skin type.

This is another staple in my skin care routine it is the CeraVe Skin Renewing Cream Serum – This stuff has Retinol in it as well as Hyaluronic Acid; Both are great for Anti Aging and Acne which are so important to me!

Sunscreen

Yup! I still use sunscreen even in the winter! I Love this one by Mychelleand I use it on my face every single day. It’s a tinted SPF 50 sunscreen, I use the color Natural Tan, but this comes in three shades. I ran out a few weeks back and found myself going right back to it. You can find this one on Amazon and stores like Sprouts or Whole Foods.

On my hands and neck, I use Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunscreen. It’s not greasy and it’s relatively inexpensive so I don’t mind lathering it on my neck and hands. Sometimes I put it on my face, but I like the make up like feel the Mychelle one has so I geniuntly use both for different purposes.

Did you know that the sun causes 80% of sun damage? Yeah for that reason, Sunscreen is a step I don’t ever skip rain or shine!

Bonus

This winter I am also trying the Apricot Beauty & Healthcare Silicon Care Décolleté Pad To Eliminate And Prevent Chest Wrinkles. I was looking for a serum I could put on my neck to reduce my neck wrinkles. Because I only started putting sunscreen on my neck this year and father time is not being kind to my neck already! BOOO! I stumbled on this bad boy when I did an Amazon search and filtered by 4-star reviews and above. Again the reviews were stellar so I took a chance on it even though it is not a serum. It’s more like a silicon pad that has a sticky side that you place on your skin. I have only been using this for just about a month and I am a total fan! I did do as the reviewers suggested and use the pad recommended for the decollete even though I am using it on my neck. The pad still falls off when I sleep (as a few reviewers complained about) but the directions say that you only need to keep it on for an hour to see the results. And so far so amazing!!

Thanks so much for reading! Let me know in the comments or on my Instagram if you decide to try one or more of these products!
