No-Sew Costume – Aladdin Magic Carpet

No-Sew Costume – Aladdin Magic Carpet

I love a good No-sew Halloween costume and I feel like I end up creating at least one costume every year. This year the kids have loved the new Aladdin movie so I decided to create a No-Sew magic carpet costume for my oldest daughter.

Things you will need

A variety of different colored felts m. I bought felt by the yard from Joanna’s Fabric store. And I bought

  • 1.5 yards of dark purple felt fabric
  • 1/2 yard of light purple felt fabric
  • 1/4 yard of yellow and red felt fabric

Feel free to choose whatever colors make your kid smile the biggest.

First I freehand drew a swirl on a piece of paper. I knew I would want to use this pattern a few times so I wanted them to be even on my No-Sew Aladdin magic carpet costume. I have included a FREE PDF here in case you want to use the same one.

Then we placed the swirls and other freehand shapes onto the carpet and hot glued them on. The actual costume is two-sided but we just cut a hole for my daughter’s head out of the top middle of the costume to allow it to slip right on. You could also very easily just safety pin a single side of this New-Sew costume to a shirt or sweater.

I think this costume is the perfect complement to our family-themed Aladdin Costume. It was so fun to create together. Start to finish it took us just about an hour. I can’t wait to wear these this Halloween, hope you enjoy it too! Have fun out there friends.
