Family Meal Plan

I was watching an episode of the cartoon loud House and was inspired by the parent’s family meal plan. If you have never seen the show, the parents have 10 daughters and a son. Hence the name, “Loud House.” In this episode, I was inspired by their family meal plan because the parents cooked the same things every week in a rotating pattern. For example, Mondays were meatloaf, and Tuesday’s it was soup. I wondered if I could pull off the same thing but leaning more toward a plantbased family meal plan.

This is my first blog about this attempt to start a family meal plan and I promise to keep you posted on my progress, and I invite you to join me on this journey. If you want to see some of my favorite plant-based meals you can click here. My plan is to try this family meal plan for at least a month then report back.

My Family Meal Plan Theory

Here is the deal! We eat out more than I will ever willingly admit, and we go to the same three restaurants over and over again. Yes, the drive-thru girl recognizes my voice and sometimes gives me a warm greeting. Life just got away from us and I am committed to starting a new habit of eating in. To some, the idea of eating the same thing every Monday sounds mundane but I honestly wonder if my kids would even notice. My guess is that by the sheer repetition, that these meals will magically become their favorite meals that I make? What do you think? Well, Let’s find out together.

Also by cooking the same thing every Monday for example, I think will allow me to play with recipes and perfect my plant-based meal options. Because they say practice might not make perfect, but will definitely improve things tremendously.

Family Meal Plan

This is the plan for the next four weeks.

  • Monday – chili
  • Tuesday- tacos (because duh?)
  • Wednesday- Alfredo
  • Thursday – Stir fry
  • Friday – Pizza

Yes, the above meals will be for the most part plant based. My husband has not quite made the switch 100% so the above meals are an easy introduction for him and an easy frame for me to just add some chicken or something similar to the side.

Possible Future Additions

The following meals almost made my weekly plant based family meal plan. I am documenting them here just in case I need to switch it up sooner than later.

  • Spaghetti
  • Enchiladas
